Abstract: Explores how workplace cyberbullying is understood and experienced in NZ, with a focus on nursing. Undertakes three-part qualitative, interview-based research to investigate how workplace cyberbullying manifests in nursing. Interviews eight nurses who had experienced bullying. Uncovers the risk of nurses experiencing cyberbullying from external sources such as students, patients, and patient relatives. Posits a multi-factor socio-ecological model as a framework to guide future research.

Abstract: Explores how current nursing and health-care practices can be designed to facilitate effective type 1 diabetes (T1D) self-management in young adults aged 16-25 years. Identifies four themes by means of thematic analysis: digital information systems; glucose monitoring and insulin devices; group- and peer-education and peer support; diabetes care delivery style. Highlights the importance of adopting age-appropriate interventions to improve young adults' engagement in T1D self-management, requiring nurses and health-care practitioners to keep up to date with the rapid changes in digital technology and diabetes-related device technology.

Conducts a qualitative descriptive study in which ten emergency nurses from one ED in New Zealand were interviewed using interactive interview methods, and asked to complete a Likert scale to identify the relevance of internationally- recognised general influences on documentation to their own practices in the context of an ED. Includes recommended routes to development through partnership, participation and process engagement, and strategies including document development, knowledge advancement and support.

Abstract: Explores and identifies factors associated with nurse concern when patient deterioration is recognised in the absence of an emergency activation score such as early warning scoring (EWS) or the physiologically-unstable patient (PUP) tool. Describes the two phases of the multi-site and mixed-methods study: retrospective chart review of 19,326 referrals for emergency assistance; and seven focus group discussions with 29 nurses about what they do when concerned about patient deterioration in the absence of an EWS. Highlights the role of nurse expertise, knowledge and skill in identifying patient deterioration prior to the activation score on an EWS.
