Abstract |
Invites pre-registration nursing and medical students to write down questions to ask of students in the other discipline. Provides these questions for discussion in a facilitated interprofessional group session. Uses descriptive thematic analysis to inductively analyse the written data, from which three themes emerged: lack of knowledge about each profession, misperceptions about the other profession, and the desire to develop interprofessional relationships. |

Explores the experiences of six participants who had undergone one or more of these crises, and analyses the experiences using Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis. Conducts face-to-face and online interviews with the members of the group to determine the value of the innovation to foster learning experiences for Maori and Pacific nurses. |

Outlines findings from a longitudinal study of the reporting of violence and aggression (V&A) within Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department (ED). Continues a prospective, longitudinal cohort study involving repeated yearly audits of ED staff reporting V&A during the same month each year. Employs an audit approach, focussing on the accuracy of routine reporting. Captures data from 2014-2020,including staff members' professional group, gender, category of V&A (e.g. verbal or physical abuse or threat, and physical or sexual assault), date and location of incident, and the individual who committed the violence. |

Examines levels of reported violence and aggression within a tertiary-level emergency department (ED) in NZ. Explores staff attitudes to violence and the reporting of it. Conducts a one-month intensive prospective audit of the reporting of violence and aggression within the ED. Compares results with previously-reported data, and finds that failure to report acts of violence is common. Highlights that emergency nurses are the primary targets of abuse and confirms the effect it has on retention. |

Explores nurses' experiences of caring for patients who have had surgery for oral cavity cancer in one NZ hospital, involving wound care, tracheostomy management, oral care, ongoing patient education and the provision of emotional support to patients and families. Interviews three registered nurses about the challenges involved in caring for this patient group; their moral conflict over the effects of surgery on the patients; their professional uncertainty, and the emotional effort involved in nursing oral cavity cancer patients. Suggests the need for informal debriefing, grief counselling, clinical supervision, stress management training, and continuing education in this specialised role. |

Identifies two categories of mobility problems: 'compromised pre-existing mobility', with a subcategory of 'accessing services prior to admission' and 'mobilisation difficulties during hospitalisation', with a subcategory of 'dissonance between dependency and need for assistance'. Recommends bariatric-care pathways for the morbidly-obese patient. |
