Abstract: Backgrounds the primary health care initiative, the Transitional Care Nursing service, which aims to facilitate integrated care between primary, secondary and community health care services. Explores whether support in the form of the Transitional Care Nursing service influences the experience of patients who receive assistance during the transition between hospital and home. Conducts qualitative, semi-structured interviews with 12 patients whose responses are thematically analysed. Highlights the characteristics of care offered by Transitional Care nurses that describe the person-centred care patients received.

Patients enrolled in a MidCentral District Health Board regional LTC programme were recruited into the region's 'Talking about Health' study to explore LTC care from patient and provider perspectives by means of a questionnaire.

Abstract: Conducts thematic analysis to identify two predominant gender scripts: of nursing as women's work, and that men who nurse are homosexual. Considers that the same barriers to men becoming nurses have remained unchanged since first identified and discussed in the 1960s.

Audits IPC management plans in NZ District Health Boards (DHB) to evaluate which clinical governance factors facilitate or hinder IPC best practice. Employs a mixed-method, exploratory, qualitative study design to conduct semi-structured interviews with ten IPC nurses across NZ. Seeks to understand their perceptions of the IPC Standard, how it is implemented in their DHB, how the IPC risks are managed, and which barriers hinder IPC engagement. Analyses IPC documentation from all 20 DHBs to examine IPC clinical governance in each DHB.
