Abstract: Undertakes a thematic analysis to highlight Maori women's perspectives on health and wellbeing. Identifies 6 key themes in the data: mihi (initial engagement), whakawhanaungatanga (belonging through relationships of shared experience), kaupapa (consultations' main purpose), tapu (sacred and set apart), embodied memories, manawahine (women's knowledge and authority). Asks women about those approaches used by non-indigenous clinicians, receptionists and service providers that enhanced their experiences of cultural safety during sexual health consultations and gynaecological examinations.

Recruits 11 practice nurses from the Auckland region for interview and analyses data from the 2008/2009 NZ adult nutrition survey. Uses an action research approach as the underlying strategy of inquiry for the study.

Undertakes an observational study of 100 consecutive older adult patients admitted to a tertiary NZ hospital with traumatic hip fracture between March and Sept 2012. Gathers data regarding cohort demographics and in-hospital events, including surgical details, alongside PFM and post-operative outcomes. Itemises characteristics of the patients, predominantly female with a mean age of 85.2 years. Finds no statistically significant relationship between pre-operative fluid management and post-operative outcomes.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore how young people make career choices and why young people choose or reject nursing as a career choice. This study has highlighted the complexity of this decision-making process, and the importance of making positive connections and offering appropriate support during this process. It seems that many young people are well equipped to make career decisions when given support.
The need to recruit people from minority cultures into nursing is a global issue. This study also highlights the need for an inter-sectoral approach to raise the profile of nursing and make a career that is attractive to young people.

Abstract: This paper will focus on nursing leadership, in particular the place of whanau ora in nursing practice. It explores one Maori and one tauiwi leadership style in relation to nursing practice in a whanau ora context. Abstract: Examines the lived experiences of adults with myasthenia gravis(MG). Uses an interpretive phenomenological approach applying the research methodology of van Manen (1990). Interviews seven people living with MG and records their experiences of the disease. Poses broadly-worded questions about various topics related to MG, that include diagnosis, symptoms, treatments and coping strategies, guided by individual experiences. Reveals by means of thematic analysis that MG affects every aspect of a person?s ?lifeworld?: their sense of time, body, and space and their relationships with others. Highlights three main themes embedded in the data experienced by a person with MG: living with uncertainty, living with weakness and living with change.
