Aims to streamline a clinical referral pathway (flow chart) for difficult venous access (DVA). Conducts a review of current literature to provide a theoretical basis to support the project. Uses the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) Model to develop the project, collecting a six-month sample of referral data to identify trends. Identifies four key themes during daa analysis: patient clinical condition; difficult access; staff education and training; and urgency for treatment |

Describes Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) services delivered by psychologists working in a a large primary care practice in the lower North Island. Conducts interviews with GPs, nurse practitioners (NP) and registered nurses (RN), analysing the data using thematic analysis. Finds an inverse relationship between the FACT service and the well-being of staff. |

Seeks to give voice to migrant nurses, using case-study methodology to highlight their experience of the competence assessment process. Distributes a questionnaire to a group of 22 newly-arrived IQNs, and conducts interviews with 10 IQNs who had been working in NZ for several years. Uncovers the motivations among the first group and reflections on the Competence Assessment Programme (CAP) among the second. Makes recommendations for CAP training based on the results of the study. |
