Abstract |
Reports research that explores the experience of raising a child with severe allergies in NZ and the potential for an anaphylactic reaction. Utilises an auto-ethnographic research approach to provide details of managing the diagnosis and day to day life of a child with severe allergies through narratives written from the perspective of the child's mother who is also a nurse. Undertakes a thematic analysis of the auto-ethnographic narrative, producing four emergent themes: being the mother; being a nurse; who is supporting us?; and desperately seeking knowledge. |

Abstract |
Reviews existing research literature to examine health-care assistants'(HCA) and other paid caregivers' information-seeking behaviour. e.g. identifying a need for information; and seeking, avoiding or sharing information. Identifies four social contexts for the behaviour: home health-care, residential dementia care, nursing homes, and acute hospital environments. Garners this data to support registered nurses (RN) who delegate direct care to a growing body of unregistered health-care assistants. Highlights the influence that situational factors and social contexts have on information behaviours. |

Conducts an online survey in 2016 of nurses who had left the NZNO. Argues that existing mainstream models of nursing leadership, with the addition of matauranga Maori concepts, can be fused into a new Whakapapa nursing leadership model using a Kaupapa Maori approach, that will enhance outcomes for Maori nurse leaders. Discusses the contribution from four existing leadership models: transformational, adaptive, trait theory, and wayfinder. Explains the six conceptual strands of the Whakapapa model of leadership. |

Maintains that achieving health equity for indigenous populations requires indigenous nursing leadership to develop and implement new systems of care delivery. Develops a consensus among indigenous nurse academics from Australia, Canada, NZ and the US on the three themes of nursing leadership, to redress colonial injustices, to contribute to models of care and to enhance the indigenous workforce. Highlights five indigenous strategies for influencing outcomes: nationhood and reconcilation as levers for change; nursing leadership; workforce strategies; culturally-safe practices and models of care; nurse activism. |
