Uses embedded case study evaluation to assess the programme in relation to the Wagner Chronic Care Model. Abstract |
Aims to determine how a brief dietary assessment tool should be designed for use by practice nurses in New Zealand with the intention of providing individualised nutrition advice to reduce individuals' risk of cardiovascular disease (heart healthy eating counselling). Recruits 11 practice nurses from the Auckland region for interview and analyses data from the 2008/2009 NZ adult nutrition survey. Uses an action research approach as the underlying strategy of inquiry for the study. |

Reports a five-week study tour of nurse-led child health practices in the US, Scandinavia and the UK to determine what effect such clinics have on child health, and how they differ from NZ practice. Visits nurse clinics in San Francisco, Denver and New York in the US, Copenhagen in Denmark, and Norfolk in England; visits collaborative practices in these locations as well as in London, England and in Stockholm, Sweden. Reports findings from semi-structured interviews with 6 nurses and 7 women patients at a sexual health clinic where the women reported positive experiences of speculum examinations. Combines data with that from interviews with 16 patients and 16 clinicians regarding positive examinations, and analyses data to identify which clinical communication strategies were used, and how the women responded. Highlights the legacy of the Cartwright Report of the Cervical Cancer Inquiry of 1987/88. |

Determines what mental health (MH) nurses understand the concept of self-management to mean in relation to patients with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Interviews 10 MH nurses using a semi-structured format and analyses data using the general inductive approach, resulting in 26 sub-themes organised into three over-arching themes: self management is self-responsibility, self-management is self-awareness, self-management is maintaining safety. |
