Abstract |
Identifies how traditional nursing practice in Maori communities may be enhanced. Highlights the need for nursing to broaden concepts of health, community, and public health nursing, to focus on issues of capacity-building, community needs, and a broader understanding of the social, political, cultural, and economic contexts of the communities primary health-care nurses serve. Explores how health is experienced by Maori women during in-depth interviews using critical ethnographic method, underpinned by a Maori-centred approach. Articulates a model of health that is a dynamic process based on the restoration and maintenance of cultural integrity, derived from the principle of self-determination. |

Abstract |
Identifies factors affecting pressure injury prevention in aged residential care. Interviews 10 staff from two aged care facilities, along with relevant policy and practice documents. Analyses data using triangulation and pattern matching to pinpoint three themes: staffing; leadership, teamwork, and communication; and assessment and early intervention. Finds a correlation between difficult work conditions with high-dependency patients and complex care needs, and prevalence of pressure injuries. |

Abstract |
Identifies cohorting as a culturally-responsive teaching and learning strategy, which in the case of a Bachelor of Health Science Nursing programme led to whanaungatanga (connection), tikanga (correct practice), wananga (learning conversation), and manaakitanga (ethic of care) among the Maori cohorts. Conducts focus groups with students in years two and three of the programme to explore their experiences. |

Abstract |
Highlights the value of academic staff having clinical currency that allows them to meet moral and professional responsibilities to return to work during a pandemic. Makes clear that a collaborative relationship between education and healthcare providers allows access to frontline-prepared, highly-skilled registered nurses to be called upon in a time of need. Argues that academic and clinical roles should not be mutually exclusive. |

Abstract |
Highlights the exacerbated gendered inequities for academic women caused by the pandemic, including gender pay gap, and women being channelled into administrative, teaching, and pastoral care roles not recognised with career advancement and remuneration compared to research routes facilitated for male colleagues. Uses a collaborative auto-ethnographic approach to reflect on the authors' experiences of emotional labour in supporting nursing students throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and the invisibility of the work within academia. Notes that the patriarchal construction of academia remains present and highly visible to the detriment of many female career trajectories. |

Abstract |
Explores the subjective experiences of patients, patients' family/whanau members, and health-care professionals (HCP) when bad news was delivered to patients about their cancer within the surgical departments of MidCentral District Health Board. Gathers and compares multiple perspectives and makes recommendations for practice that align with the goals of those involved in the project. Utilises a qualitative approach with the epistemological and methodological basis informed by interpretative phenomenological analysis. Collects data through semi-structured interviews with 10 patients, 6 family members, 5 surgeons and 6 nurses. |

Abstract |
Explores the social and cognitive non-technical skills (NTS) required of nurses practising in general surgical wards, a taxonomy of NTS for general surgical nurses, and identifies the differences in levels of performance of the NTS between experienced and less experienced nurses, by means of applied cognitive task analysis (ACTA). Highlights the association between poor performance of NTS with adverse patient events. Conducts the study in four surgical wards in a metropolitan hospital, using observation and semi-structured interviews with RNs. |
